Davis Law Group Celebrates Small Business Week

May 5, 2015 Davis Law Group

May 4 – 8, 2015 is National Small Business Week.

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, Small Business Week has been recognized every year since 1963. This week “recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.”

Right now is a great time to be a small business owner. The economy is growing, thanks in large part to the small business sector. America has seen more than 12 million jobs added over 61 straight months of job gains, the longest streak on record. And those jobs are being fueled by small businesses. In fact, more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.

Here are some more impressive facts about U.S. small businesses:

  • Almost half of all jobs in America are in companies with fewer than 500 employees
  • Small businesses produce 16 more patents per employee than large companies
  • 54% of all U.S. sales happen at small businesses
  • Small businesses donate 250% more than large companies to nonprofits and charities

Despite small business owners overwhelming stating that they would choose their entrepreneurial lifestyle over and over again, they do have serious concerns, such as having to wear so many hats at their company, acquiring new business and making sure they are following the law in their business dealings.

Davis Law Group is proud to be a Chesapeake small business.  We are also honored to work with other small businesses in Virginia to help ensure their success.
